Founded in 2021, the German Photography Council acts as an umbrella organisation for photography in Germany and at this event will offer insights into its wide-ranging cultural and political lobbying work. Its 47 member organisations work together to promote the medium of photography, photographic culture, and professional photography. Photographic legacies, the impact of artificial intelligence on photography and the media, and visual literacy among children and young people are among the issues of greatest importance for the German Photography Council, and will be discussed both by the panel and with the audience. The Council will also presents its new expert database for photography, which has been designed to facilitate even better networking and increase the visibility of key experts and industry-relevant contacts.
Anna Gripp is editor-in-chief of the magazine PHOTONEWS and member of the advisory board of the German Society for Photography (DGPh). She has been a member of the German Photographic Council’s executive board since 2022 and a spokesperson for the German Cultural Council since 2023.
Julia Laatsch is a freelance photographer and member of the FREELENS Advisory Board. She has been a member of the German Photographic Council’s executive board since 2022 and a spokesperson for the German Cultural Council since 2023.
Ingo Taubhorn, artist and exhibition maker; member of the board of the German Photographic Council since 2002, and spokesperson for the German Cultural Council since 2023. President of the German Photographic Academy from 2010 to 2025.
