Über das Projekt
The Art of Border Sabotage: Echoes from the Edges brings together artists that engage with border regimes, social indifference, and forms of belonging. In Uncontained: Breaking the Apparatus, Al Anders accompanies Iranian actor Mohadeseh Salehinasab to sites along her migration route, transforming trauma into self-determination. Through documentary video and installation-based works, Quinn Gapp’s The Gaze of Indifference depicts the lived realities of migrants and refugees in Germany. In Mariam Ibrahim’s installation Soft Territories, urban practices of solidarity scrutinise and reimagine administrative processes and open up alternative forms of belonging. In Asmara 1975, Frehiwet Negasi returns to the landscapes of her childhood to explore memory, displacement, and belonging, transforming personal history into an act of re-encounter that interrupts the mental borders shaped by loss and exile.
The exhibition The Art of Border Sabotage is co-sponsored by the Claussen-Simon Foundation, the Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft and the Hamburg Ministry of Culture and Media.
