The Stadthaus under National Socialism: A Headquarters for Terror

From 1933–1943, the Stadthaus complex on Stadthausbrücke/Neuer Wall was a headquarters for Nazi terror, housing the city’s central police command as well as command posts for the criminal police and the Gestapo. Led by Laura Kemppi, this tour around what is today known as the Stadthöfe complex will cover the history of the complex’s construction and subsequent use, as well as the crimes committed by the police units stationed there and their dire consequences for thousands of people. Kemppi will also provide insight into the complex’s visual history and present a selection of photographs from the memorial’s exhibition.
