About the project
Queer histories often persist not through official archives, but through recounted fragments, gestures, and fleeting encounters. Fleeting Glance turns to the unwritten stories of queer bodies in public space. Public transit spaces have historically functioned as sites of queer desire – offering anonymity and protection while simultaneously providing a charged atmosphere. Hidden behind and operating through subtle codes, these environments and encounters remained largely illegible to heteronormative society. Tapping into this latent tension, Maik Gräf’s experimental photography explores strategies of concealment, fragmentation, and dissolution.
