"Cocktail Prolongé: F.C. Gundlach Special" – Guided tour with curator Sabine Schnakenberg
Join curator Sabine Schnakenberg on a guided tour of the exhibition COCKTAIL PROLONGÉ – F.C. GUNDLACH SPECIAL and learn more about selected works, the exhibition’s development process, and F.C. Gundlach’s collection.
As one of the most significant German fashion photographers of the 1950s through the 1980s, F.C. Gundlach had a decisive influence on the aesthetic stylization of the female body; as a private collector, his passion lay in more provocative, abstract, and profound forms of physicality. Extravagance and queerness are expressed in his work just as much as vulnerability and nonconformity. Drawing on approximately 300 works from the F.C. Gundlach Collection, the exhibition “Cocktail Prolongé. F.C. Gundlach special” explores the diverse ways in which physicality can be staged—always focusing on how the body is used as a medium for portraying roles, fantasies, and desires, as well as critical demands.
