Image Collection on the History of Astrology and Astronomy by Aby Warburg in Collaboration with Gertrud Bing and Fritz Saxl and the City Curator of Hamburg
City Curator of Hamburg Joanna Warsza presents the only exhibition ever personally made by Aby Warburg for the Planetarium Hamburg. Its contents were long considered lost and were only rediscovered in the late 1980s. Presented as an elliptical journey, the exhibition inquires into how the spiritual and the rational – both essential to human wellbeing – can be brought together and how humans have always looked to the stars to understand our life on Earth. During the tours, City Curator Joanna Warsza and Warburgian art historian Karen Michels will discuss the Image Collection, highlighting its connections to the Triennial’s theme of Infinity.
