"Abdulhamid Kircher / Akosua Viktoria Adu-Sanyah" – Guided tour with curator Nadine Isabelle Henrich

Exhibition curator Nadine Isabelle Henrich will lead a tour of the two solo exhibitions, AKOSUA VIKTORIA ADU-SANYAH – RESIDUAL SKY UNDER CONTAMINATION and ABDULHAMID KIRCHER – ROTTING FROM WITHIN, as part of the 9th Photography Triennial at PHOXXI.

The practice of the German-Ghanaian artist Akosua Viktoria Adu-Sanyah (*1990) is characterized by large-format analog hand prints. Through manual and chemical processes, she shifts and expands the boundaries of photography. In doing so, she transfers the ephemeral states—otherwise only experienced in the darkroom—into the exhibition space, making the unseen, latent, and process-oriented aspects of the medium perceptible.

In his analog photographic practice, the German-Turkish artist Abdulhamid Kircher (*1996) explores the consequences of patriarchy and violence, as well as the search for reconciliation and intimacy. He sees his work as a fragmentary, living family album in which the camera functions both as a protective shield and as a legitimizing framework for the newfound closeness between father and son.
