STATE OF RECORDING. The urban space as a setting

Institution
Workshop
12.9.2026
Hamburger Kunsthalle Glockengießerwall 5 20095 Hamburg
Language: German

On this photo walk, you’ll gain fresh inspiration for your photography and discover seemingly familiar sights from the museum and Hamburg’s cityscape from new and perhaps as yet unknown perspectives. This event is aimed at anyone who enjoys photography – whether you’re a beginner or already a professional! During the four-hour photo walk, the museum and the urban space become a setting for observations and for your own photography inspired by them! Bring your camera or smartphone and follow the photographic artist Aglaia Konrad on a special exploration tour through the museum – and around it! What impression does the museum convey? How is it integrated into its surroundings, and what might the museum of tomorrow look like? Let’s take a look together at the architecture, the art collection, and even the railway tracks or the surrounding parks through the lenses of our cameras: where does our gaze lead us? And how do personal questions and perspectives emerge from this, becoming worthy of capture? Aglaia Konrad is an Austrian artist and photographer based in Brussels. She photographs buildings, urban structures and landscapes not merely as subjects, but as spaces that we experience, traverse and help to shape. In 2023, she was awarded the Austrian State Prize for Photography. In this workshop, she invites participants to explore the museum and its surroundings with a keen eye for architecture, space and detail. Meeting point: Foyer, Galerie der Gegenwart. Fee: €26 plus admission. Please note: Please bring a camera or smartphone, weatherproof clothing and your own food and drink. Target audience: Young people, adults – whether you’re a beginner or already a professional! A collaboration with the Deichtorhallen Hamburg as part of the 9th Triennial of Photography Hamburg.
