Mela Dávila Freire is the Publications Manager of the 9th Triennial of Photography Hamburg 2026. Alongside her work for the festival, she is an editor, researcher, author, and curator. Her work focuses on the genre and history of artists’ publications from a feminist perspective, as well as on the role of archives in contemporary art. She devotes particular attention to the theoretical and practical intersections between archives and art collections, and to the ideological biases hidden in archival systems. She has held management positions at the Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA) and the Museo Reina Sofía in Madrid, and has collaborated with numerous public and private institutions and collections. She regularly teaches in postgraduate programmes and is the author of Off-Register: Publishing Experiments by Women Artists in Latin America, 1960–1990 (2023) and Mission and Commission. Documenta and the Art Market, 1955–1968 (2022).
